Indian swimmers bag 3 gold at Asian age group swimming championship

Indian swimmers had an impressive start at the 7th Asian age group swimming championship in Jakarta, securing a total of eight medals, including three golds, on the first day of the event.

Sandeep Sejwal claimed the gold in the 50m breaststroke event, finishing it with a time of 28:36s. India’s prominent swimmer Veerdhaval Khade secured the top spot in the 100m butterfly stroke, clocking 54:86s. Later, Khade joined forces with Aaron D Souza, Anshul Kothari, and Rehan Poncha to snatch another gold in the 4×100 freestyle relay.

Earlier in the day, Poncha earned a bronze medal in the boys’ open group 200m backstroke, achieving a timing of 02:07:76. Saurabh Sangvekar finished second in the 800m freestyle, earning a silver medal with a time of 08:18.40. Sangvekar had already claimed a bronze in the 200m freestyle event.

On the girls’ side, Surabhi Tipre secured a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle, finishing with a time of 04:26:07. Additionally, Tipre, along with Talasha Prabhu, Kshipra Mahajan, and Richa Mishra, won another bronze in the 4×100 freestyle relay, recording a timing of 04:01.18.
